Food Artists!

We first did this back in February, but it is a PERFECT project for Artists Week. Emily Smith was a bit apprehensive when I told her we were going to "paint" our snack, but in her defense, we had just painted with real paints out on the deck. Who knows what's going to happen at this house!?!

Fun! Thanks for letting Emily join in on your first day of Artist's week. She had such a good time and asked when she could go back and play again. :) Maybe she can join in the fun during another week of "mommy summer camp". I would love for you to e-mail me some of the pictures that you took today...the one of Emily holding up the "art toast" is a great shot of her missing bottom teeth, would be good to put in her scrapbook! Thanks again!

That toast doesn't look too appetizing to me. What were they "painting" with?

It's milk dyed with a drop or two of food coloring. Then we paint with CLEAN paintbrushes! Toasting them (slightly ... I toasted ours a bit much) dries the "paint" and the colors really POP!

Emily said it was really good with jam on it. :)
