Halloween Dry Run
On Halloween Friday, we attended SouthWood's annual Fright Night with the Underhills. Tyler opted to go as a knight in shining armor (although much of his armor ended up in my possession ... so I made a mental note NOT to dress him as that for trick-or-treating!) while Abby tried out her "Asian Princess" costume. Thank goodness (!) we did a dry run on the makeup. Poor Abby looked more like a clown than I had intended. Good thing she had a sense of humor about it! On Sunday night, we ran out of time to do make up, but decided less was more.
All treats ... no tricks!
We have such a fun time putting together these goodie bags. Tyler is actually a big help now ... and Abby helped with hers too when we took them into school the day before.

Halloween Redo
We'll do anything for chicken! "Except Abby," says Abby. She's currently going through another non-chicken eating phase! Anyway, tonight Chick-fil-A is giving free chicken to those in costume ... so instead of breaking out this year's costumes and messing them up, Abby is re-wearing her Raggedy Ann costume from last year. And Tyler raided the dress-up bin.

Before Biggest Loser
Thanks for the great birthday gift Martha and Bill. Can't wait to have a fire now! But, as you can see, the kids are enjoying my present today ... well, at least the packaging! Here's what they looked like before they were chosen to be on The Biggest Loser! Ahhh ... fun with inflatable plastic packing material.

Ty and the Pumpkin Patch Pirate

Thanks to some really creative moms who organized this little playdate for members of Tyler's preschool class ... we painted, glittered and glued until our pumpkins stood out from all the others in the patch!
Too bad only a few families could join us on Monday. We had a great time ... beginning with a picnic lunch. Gotta share the laugh we had when Gavin R's mom (Kari) pulled her lunch out of the Subway bag. The "sandwich artist" at the store told Kari she had labeled the sandwich topped with cucumbers, just so Kari wouldn't be confused. Well, I guess NOT all of us know how to correctly spell "cucumber!"
And THAT would be just one of the reasons we are getting our kids started in school early! :) I think it's safe to say this preschooler is a professional picture taker though ... check out that pose!

More Picnic Pictures
Did you notice Abby's "red fox" earrings? She insisted on wearing them to celebrate the anniversary. Thank you Jim & Judy for the cute earrings ... a little gift they gave her last month at Grandparents Day. Abby and her friends had so much fun doing the sack race and just plain goofing around!
10-10-10: Roberts' 10th Anniversary
We had a great time yesterday at Abby's school. It was the 10th anniversary ... celebrated with a family potluck picnic, featuring games that students would have played 110 years ago!
My little Hallo-weenies!
I love Halloween clothing! Too bad this is probably the last year Abby will wear this ghost dress (although it is now a shirt because she has gotten so big)! Today we have a lunch picnic at the pumpkin patch with Tyler's class ... should b fun!

Blue Jeans
Tyler discovered that if you cut the middle out of a piece of paper it looks just like a pair of jeans! Rather "blue jeans" if you're Grandan! We LOVE to give Dad a hard time about his proper pronunciation of this article of clothing! Tyler has become so creative recently ... I think this is art project #3 this afternoon. This little five-year old is AMAZING!

Tyler's Birthday Baskin Robbins Trip
Tyler says thanks to Daddy for signing him up for the birthday club! The coupon was expiring so we HAD to come in have ice cream! Thanks for having a birthday Dude!
Bug Cleanup ... aisle 3!
The kids are loving their new bug vacuum from Uncle Aaron (and Jackie too!). Currently two little bugs are enjoying their new job as lab rats for Abby and Tyler. The magnifying glass brings you right up close with them... closer than I want to be to insects!
Super"Star Wars"
The kids and I had lots of fun preparing Tyler's Superstar(Wars) Week snack last night. It all started because I was swayed by the 50 percent off sale on candy melts at Joann's ... and I ran out of time to do this recipe before Tyler's birthday party last week. At some point I will share pictures from that fun day ... computer issues again - ugh!
The light saber pretzels were pretty easy to make. Turns out the best tool was my FPRA Tervis Tumbler. I melted that candy right in it then used it for dipping. You gotta love food crafts ... especially when they work! :) Tyler says this one is even accurate: light sabers for Luke (blue), Yoda (green) and Darth Vader (red). Good luck Ms. Lorraine and Ms. Melissa on figuring out who gets which colors at school. Just kidding - I made one of each color for each child. They are preschool Jedis after all!

Remote Control Craziness
The instruction manual for Tyler's new remote control car is missing a step ... how the HECK do you get it out of the box?!? This is the second one that gave us fits today. Dennis injured himself trying to open the new bug vacuum this morning. But he came to the rescue tonight ... it only took a screwdriver (not the alcoholic kind) and uttering a few cuss words and he was able to get the car started! Now the children are zooming it all over the house ... and by children I DO mean Dennis too!
Thanks Skippy!
That kind folks that make this peanut butter just cut my sandwich making time in half! Woohoo! Now I just have to spread the peanut butter - no need to also get the honey out of the pantry. I will have time for a second cup of coffee in the morning now! :)
