Thanks USPS!

Well, Martha and Bill (Dennis' parents) received their Christmas gifts from us ... FINALLY! They say the box wasn't in awful shape, but this is what I'm envisioning it looked like when it arrived yesterday. Sent to arrive before Christmas ... this package of gifts was lost out in postal-land for THREE weeks! And, while it was only missing one present when it arrived (sorry Bill - I'll buy you a new blanket!), it contained three items that WE didn't send! Martha and Bill, our post office insiders (who are both retiring this month from their jobs with the USPS ... ready to be through with situations like this maybe?), say the box probably fell off/got caught in a conveyor belt and came apart. When our packages fell out, they were likely gathered up with others from boxes that met the same fate. Good news is the "extra" gifts Martha and Bill received probably won't be missed by their intended recipients (a book, a game, and a tin of cookies), and maybe someone out there is having a warmer winter with Bill's missing blanket! Oh - something tells me my in-laws probably won't be eating those cookies that stowed away in the package. No telling WHERE they came from! Anyway, thanks USPS for coming through for us - eventually!
