One of the main reasons the kids and I traveled to Orlando this past weekend, was to attend Grandan's company picnic on Saturday. Actually, his HR group has grown by leaps and bounds recently, so they had their first-ever departmental picnic ... and Grandan, of course, went all out! There was a great spread, a bouncer for the kids (and there were LOTS of kids because everyone who works for Dad seems to be a woman in their 30s/40s! I ask you - is this because a lot of women work in HR, or ... ??), fun songs and dances with Scooter the DJ (one of the best in Orlando) ... and the kids got their faces painted. Ahoy Pirate Tyler!

Abby and Tyler LOVED getting to hang out with Aaron and his girlfriend, Meredith, who drove up for the picnic.

Meredith came in second in the hula hoop contest ... but only because they made her (and the person who won) raise one foot. Otherwise, we think they still might be there spinning!

We knew their was a full lineup of games, so we rested up before the picnic. One family favorite is the bat spin relay. You spin around in a circle five times, with your head on a baseball bat, then TRY to run in a straight line. We didn't get Mom's run ... or fall on camera (I was laughing too hard), but here's the aftermath before she got back on her feet! She hit the ground hard and has a bruise to prove it!

And the male members of our family are always up for a good eating competition! Aaron won the hot dog eating contest ... he was the first to finish three hot dogs.

I don't know how long it took him, but all I have to say is YUCK! That's WAY more hot dogs than I ever want to eat in one sitting ... and believe me, they went down quickly. Fortunately, they stayed there!

Dad participated in the pie eating contest, but he had to fork over the prize to the other competitors when he started spitting pie into their plates! There are some things your parents do that you aren't proud of ... this was one of those times!

Fortunately, Abby thinks Grandan is pretty cool anyway ...

Thanks for including us Grandan - we had a GREAT time!
