Car Wash

I'm pretty sure this is in violation of some child labor laws, but it is cute! Dennis claims, and I know for a fact, that Tyler was enjoying himself. He felt VERY important shining Daddy's hubcaps.Hey, if I was out there and saw how into the job Tyler was (see him using the old toothbrush in the shot below!), I might have grabbed a beer as well. Notice Abby is no where around! They wise up as they approach age seven!

Hop to it! Easter 2010

Awwwww ... how cute the kids are, just standing there hugging in the playroom. Well, actually it's because the Easter Bunny left a clue that said "Find your next hint where Brother and Sister hug in the playroom" ... meaning there was an egg behind a photograph of Abby and Tyler. But, they thought if they hugged, a hint would magically appear. Good thing Mommy and Daddy were around to help them out. A few more clues found, and they reached the prize ... Later that morning, we went to Easter Sunday service at church, then came home for a family lunch. But, while everyone looked nice, we tried to grab some pictures. Unfortunately, right after Dennis took this one of me and the kids, our camera battery died. By the time it had charged, Dennis had already switched into his "weekend clothes," but Tyler and I donned the bunny ears for a couple silly pictures. He's SO ticklish! We tried to get Abby in on the action (by tackling her on the bed!) but she wasn't being a good sport. Good thing the Easter Bunny had already made his stop! Look at the way my little guy is looking at me. Do you think he will always be so sweet?

Treehuggers

What's Tyler doing up in the grapefruit tree at Grammy and Grandan's house, you ask? Climbing of course! He learned it from his big sister, who thought it sounded like fun to read in the tree. Doesn't look comfortable to me, but she didn't seem to mind. And, in fact, Abby spent a great deal of time reading LOTS of books up there during Spring Break. Who needs Disney (just three miles down the road) when you have a grapefruit tree?

Grandan ... the Clean Machine.

Do you think Grandan could have used any more bubbles?!? He was tasked with giving the kids a bath, and as we know from previous experience ... they LOVE a dip in the jacuzzi tub. Add bubble bath, and well ... it's a party!

Egg-cellent!

Since Spring Break was right before Easter, we spent one afternoon in Orlando dying eggs. Remember, last year we were in Iowa with Dennis' parents. I reminded the kids about the cool trick grandma taught us ... making "placemats" with the dye-stained paper towels. I still think that's so cool Martha! And we could have done it this year, with the paper towels above (they were messy enough!) but instead we opted to decorate Grammy's shirt ... Actually, we were trying a new egg-dying technique: wrapping rubber bands around the eggs then dipping them in the dye. Well, it turns out, the rubber band can't be too tight. One shot right off the green egg and splashed dye all over Grammy, as well as most of the white eggs waiting in the carton! Good thing our little bunnies didn't mind lots of green spotted eggs. Tyler posed like the Easter Bunny for us, but Abby was being a rotten egg and wouldn't mug for the camera. Can you imagine!?!

Tampa - Spring Break

Spring Break began in Tampa this year, with two days of Uncle Aaron fun. First, we had dinner at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City (above). Then, we "swam with the fishies" the following morning, enjoying a few hours at the aquarium. We worked off lunch at Beef's (of course!) with a bike/roller blade ride along Bayshore Drive. If you let him, Tyler will tell you how he "pulled Aaron" along because "Aaron was tired!" But, actually Aaron was pushing Tyler ... who is still working at becoming proficient with his training wheels. That was "enough fun" (a Grandan reference), but we took it to another level ... "more than enough fun" when we (almost) rode the streetcar ... and hit some pins at the bowling alley!
You know what's a bummer? They don't put the bumpers up on the bowling lane for adults (!), nor can we use that cool metal guide like Tyler is using. No wonder I had the worst score in our group. Seriously! Even the children beat me! We didn't care ... it was just fun to hang out with Uncle A!

Project Runway

Abby and Emily had such a good time playing dress-up today. And, since I'm a HUGE fan of a certain reality show, I inserted myself into their game a bit more than normal ...First they designed their "look" on paper ...
Then hit the runway (notice the red carpet ... wrong shape, but still red!) and explained their design for a critique by the judges. Just call him "Tyler Gunn!" His favorite piece of advice for the girls? That's right, "make it work!"
